Jennifer will highlight efforts to prepare the workforce for Industry 4.0 careers and the transition to electric vehicles. Two DEI and business experts unpack their successful efforts in creating organizational change. Embracing DEI can uplift workers and celebrate real progress with accountability. Our discussion will focus on four values:

  1. Application - putting DEI principles to work
  2. Appreciation - recognition and enjoyment of the benefits of DEI
  3. Participation - meaningful action in organizational activities
  4. Representation - speaking up on behalf of marginalized people

Tim Hatfield
President, CEO
New Horizons Rehabilitation Services, Inc.

Mr. Hatfield started his career at New Horizons in 1989, where he was hired as a Case Manager. Over the years, Mr. Hatfield was promoted into various roles including managing the Supported Employment Program, overseeing Employment Services, Branch Manager, Vice President of Rehabilitation, and currently holds the position of President/CEO.

One of Mr. Hatfield's major strengths throughout his career has always been his close relationships with stakeholders, parents, and funders. These relationships have been critical in enabling New Horizons to expand community and employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities. Mr. Hatfield currently serves on the Oakland County Work Force Development Board, Incompass of Michigan Board, and the Arc of Oakland County Board.

Over Mr. Hatfield's career, he has worked closely with fellow managers, including the current and past leadership, to see growth and expansion of programs and services move into the local communities. These quality programs and services provide a gateway to achieve vocational goals and set a path to independence and inclusion for individuals served.

Smita Mehta
Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
FORVIA

Smita Mehta is the Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at Faurecia North America, a FORVIA company. She is leading a shift in corporate culture by enhancing and expanding the company's DEI program to team members across the country.

A former Emmy-nominated television news journalist, Smita served as a hard-hitting journalist in Detroit, Grand Rapids, MI and Rockford, IL for nearly ten years before transitioning into corporate public relations. Since then, Smita has held many leadership positions in the companies where she worked and in her community. Her commitment towards enhancing diversity and inclusion earned her a place in Oakland County?s Elite 40 Under 40 class of 2020. She also is on the Board of Directors for the Auburn Hills Chamber of Commerce, where she serves as the Chair of the DEI Innovation Council.

Smita enjoys traveling abroad with her two children and husband, camping, and cheering on the Maize and Blue. She is a proud alumnus of the University of Michigan, where she double majored in economics and communications, and Northwestern University, where she earned her Master of Science in broadcast journalism.

How does your workforce see themselves transitioning from one role to another within your organization? Lisa is responsible for leading Brose North America's human resources function. She joined Brose's quality department in 2005 and has been in her current role since October 2019. As VP of HR, Lisa is responsible for shaping Brose North America's corporate culture. Her focus is on ensuring all employees have a voice and providing a fair, inclusive and equitable workplace. Lisa is an active member of the Original Equipment Suppliers Association (OESA), the Detroit Chamber?s MichAuto Group, and the Center for Automotive Diversity, Inclusion & Advancement (CADIA).

Tim Juidici is a Principal and Partner at OHM Advisors as well as the manager of OHM's offices in Auburn Hills and Fenton. In his role within OHM's Municipal Services group, Tim is responsible for serving communities. He assists municipalities with the evaluation of their infrastructure and the prioritization of capital investment needs, particularly for transportation, water and sewer system infrastructure. Tim has worked with a number of communities on general engineering services, capital improvement planning and implementation, municipal design services, construction administration, and review of site development projects.

His work experience includes major and local roadways, water main, sanitary sewer, storm water management, pedestrian facilities, streetscapes, parks, and buildings. Tim received his bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Michigan Tech University and is a licensed professional civil engineer. He was previously recognized as the American Council of Engineering Companies National Young Professional of the Year and the National Engineers Week Foundation New Faces of Engineering.

Registration for all events, programs and membership is considered complete upon full payment.  An invoice payment option will be available on most events until 14 days prior to the event date. Cash and credit cards are always accepted. A confirmation will be sent for all transactions with the Auburn Hills Chamber.
