OU's Elaine Carey elected to board of directors for Higher Education Resource Services
Dr. Elaine Carey, professor and dean of Oakland University’s College of Arts and Sciences has been elected to serve on the board of directors for Higher Education Resource Services (HERS). Founded in 1972, HERS is a leadership development organization dedicated to building and sustaining a dynamic network of women and gender-diverse leaders in higher education. Zach Barclay and Jamie Franklin, members of Oakland University’s academic advising team, recently presented at the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA) Annual Conference, sharing innovative practices for advising students who are undecided on their major. The presentation highlighted OU’s Exploring initiative, a cross-departmental effort to transform the way the university works with undecided students, empowering them to take an active role in charting their educational path.
